Yogi Berra is famous for saying things he may or may not have said.

“It ain’t over till it’s over.”

“You can’t hit and think at the same time.”

“It’s like deja vu all over again.”

“I never said all the things I said.”

Whether or not he said everything he said, he gets credit for saying lots of things. More people remember him for being quotable than for being a great player. What an incredible lesson.

Proverbs 12:14–“A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his words, and the deeds of a man’s hands will return to him.”

What you say matters and you’ll be remembered for it. What you do matters and you always reap what you sow.

Jesus would later say that the words that leave our mouths originate in our hearts. He also taught that a tree produces fruit in accordance with what kind of tree it is, good or bad.

Your words and actions matter. In fact, they define who you really are. They reveal your heart.

Just like Yogi, your words will come back to you. What will they say about you? What kind of heart will they reveal? One that loves Jesus, or one that loves only you?

Lord Jesus, change my heart. I give it to you. I repent of my sin and want you to change me from the inside out. Amen.
