If you want to become a better hitter, you can.

If you want to throw more strikes, it’s possible.

If you want to teach the game more effectively, that’s not out of your reach.

All those things require is undivided focus, unending hard work, and and unwillingness to quit.

That’s all. And yet, so few of us ever achieve what is really possible…we aren’t willing to work for it. We want something for nothing.

We want to be better at what we do, but not if it means it will cost us something, not if we actually have to dedicate ourselves to it.

Proverbs 2:4–“If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures…”

Wisdom is in focus. The kind and leads to and understanding of God and his will for your life. It’s wisdom that enables you to be all that God wants you to be. Yet, most people never receive wisdom and understanding and knowledge of God and his will.

Why?

It would actually require something of them. And we typically want something for nothing.

God’s rewards of wisdom, understanding, fulfillment, joy, and peace are for those who really go after him. It’s for those who show up early, so to speak, and take extra cuts in the cage. It’s for those who aren’t content to stay where they are with him. It’s for those who want to know and experience him more deeply.

Like baseball, you can’t grow with God without all-out commitment. The results in and through you speak for themselves. Now it’s time to commit.

Lord Jesus, I want more of you in and through me. Show me what it means to seek you each day, to really go after you. Amen.
